Tessa Bielecki is a former Carmelite monk who cofounded the Spiritual Life Institute and served as Mother Abbess of the contemplative community until 2005. She teaches at Colorado College, gives lectures and retreats, participates in East-West dialogues, and writes. Her great passion is the desert. She lives alone in a log cabin in Crestone, Colorado, in the spirit of the ancient Fathers and Mothers of the desert. She cofounded The Desert Foundation with Fr. Dave Denny in 2005.
