Patty Dann is the author of Sweet & Crazy; Mermaids, which was turned into a film starring Cher, Winona Ryder, and Christina Ricci; and The Baby Boat, an account of her own experiences adopting a child from Lithuania. Her articles have appeared in the New York Times, O magazine, Redbook, More magazine, and the Chicago Tribune. She has an MFA in writing from Columbia University and a BA from the University of Oregon. She and her son currently live in New York City.

Patty Dann earned her MFA in writing from Columbia University. Her columns have appeared in the New York Times “Modern Love” column, the Chicago Tribune, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Christian Science Monitor, O Magazine, Redbook, and Poets & Writers, as well as in The Writer’s Handboo , Dirt: The Quirks, Habits, and Passions of Keeping House, and This I Believe: On Motherhood. She has served as a judge for the Scholastic Young Writers’ Awards and has taught at Sarah Lawrence College and the West Side YMCA in New York City.
