
Carmen Acevedo Butcher
Carmen Acevedo Butcher, PhD, is an associate professor of English and scholar-in-residence at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia, whose work in medieval studies and linguistics has made her a two-time Fulbright scholar. In 2010, she received the 46th Georgia Author of the Year award for The Cloud of Unknowing: With the Book of Privy Counsel. She was also a 2006 Carnegie Professor of the Year and is the recipient of the 2007 President's Award for Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship at Shorter College.

Butcher studied medieval literature at the University of London, Heidelberg University, and the University of Georgia, and taught graduate undergraduate courses for a year at Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea. . She writes regularly for Christianity Today and has served as a commentator for Georgia Public Broadcasting (97.7 FM).
