Crazy Wisdom / Choiceless Transmutation

January 24, 2012

Deities in tantric Buddhism represent different aspects of the principles of energy. They are depicted as male or female and can be either wrathful or peaceful. The wrathful aspect is associated with transmutation by force, leaping into wisdom, and choiceless transmutation. It is the act of cutting through, associated with crazy wisdom.

Crazy wisdom to me is diffusion of
The deceptively irrefutable convictions, that we convince ourselves to be truths, convictions that leave no room for the educated usage of the words, rational thought or compassion.

Oxymoromic. The term Crazy Wisdom twists my head around. Crazy as in on the edge or beyond the edge of normally acceptable thinking? What comes to mind are the hilarious, bracing, overwhelming, wrenching or ground-shaking realizations of What Is that blaze up, blaze up like fire.

Crazy wisdom seems to be a contradiction of words. an oxymoron. But then it hits me, maybe it is meant initially to bump one out of her comfort zone, to open up to a new way of seeing and doing. That one needs to get a little crazy with the status quo of one's life, the cocoon of living same old, same old, to gain a deeper, richer wisdom of life.

Crazy wisdom to me is about having a level of mindfulness and awareness that allows you to see the good in bad and bad in good, with compassion.

for me, crazy wisdom is when the lama cares for his students and knows exactly how to" cut through the crap" of their thinking/concepts, using all kind of methods to help them get out of their diluted state. The methods the lama uses might seem crazy, but they are so wise, they may seem harsh, but are so caring, and with doing so the lama helps them tremendously.
