Real pride is called vajra pride, or indestructible pride, in the tantric tradition. Such genuine pride comes from facing the reality of one's nature. It is not a question of becoming what one would like to be, but rather of bringing one's actual energies to full blossom. The confused ego pride is the indulgence of wishful thinking: it is trying to become something else rather than being willing to be what one is.
