The Creative Side of Revolution

November 19, 2010

Buddha respected the great and ancient traditions of India very much. His was not an anarchistic attitude in any negative sense, nor was it revolutionary in the way the communists are. His was real, positive revolution. He developed the creative side of revolution, which is not trying to get help from anyone else, but finding out for oneself. Buddha went straight to the heart of the matter, namely, how to see the truth.

Condensed from "The Life and Example of Buddha," in Meditation in Action, the 40th Anniversary Edition, pages 5 and 6.
