When we talk about developing mindfulness and awareness, we are talking about practicing a living tradition, not renewing an old culture, a dead culture. This is a living tradition that has been practiced for more than twenty-five hundred years by millions of people. It's always up to date, and we can practice it the same way as those who came before us. It is a very personal experience so personal that it is actually workable.
