The Stroke of a Hair

April 15, 2011

With greater clarity, pain is experienced more harshly, more precisely and directly. According to the abhidharma, the Buddhist teachings on psychology and philosophy, the unwise feel pain as the stroke of a hair on the hand, but the wise feel pain as the stroke of a hair on the eye. So the wise feel more pain, because they are freer from neurosis. They feel real pain and the real precision of pain.
