Ruethai Chaichongrak gained his degree in traditional Thai architecture from Silpakorn University in 1961 where he teaches to this day. He has designed numerous Thai houses and religious buildings such as the King Rama II Memorial Park, the Centre for Southeast Asian Culture and the Kamphaeng Phet Museum. He won many prizes for his designs, his conservation work, and architecture. In the year 2000 he received the National Artist award, becoming the first architect in Thailand to receive such an award.
