A Reading with Commentary by David Rome
Nowhere is Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s inner life more accessible than in his poetry. Composed “on the tongue,” Trungpa Rinpoche’s poems are filled with striking imagery, passion, humor, tenderness, and pride. They contain personal reflections, appreciations as well as satirical critiques of his students, incisive social commentary, evocations of enlightened society, and spontaneous flashes of profound teaching.
David Rome served as private secretary to Chögyam Trungpa from 1974 to 1983. He was both scribe and editor for hundreds of the poems and has edited four volumes of Rinpoche’s selected poems, including First Thought Best Thought and Timely Rain, both published by Shambhala Publications.
