1999
Ligmincha Institute
Summer Retreat at Serenity Ridge

1999 summer's program was led by two wonderful teachers:

His Holiness Lungtok Tenpa'i Nyima, the Abbot of Menri Monastery and the most senior lineage holder of Bön, and Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, the founder of the Ligmincha Institute and the author of Wonders of the Natural Mind and the Tibetan Yogas of Dream and SleepKyongtrul Rinpoche, a senior teacher at the Dialectic School at Menri, again accompanied His Holiness.

Received were the inspirational biographies of the twenty-four Masters of the Oral Transmissions of Zhang Zhung. The teachings of these enlightened Dzogchen masters are synthesized into poetic, experiential key works which transmit the pith meditative instructions of Dzogchen—the ‘Great Perfection’, or ‘Great Completeness’—teachings.

The study of the Bon Mother Tantra, or Ma Gyud….The Mother Tantras (ma rgyud), continued and emphasized the bardo (intermediate states) and the practices of the elements (tsalung). His Holiness and Tenzin Rinpoche taught both of these cycles throughout the three weeks of the retreat.

Throughout the retreat, there were meditation instructions and guided practice sessions for students at all levels of experience. Tenzin Rinpoche strongly recommended that newcomers attend the first week as special arrangements were made for introductory instruction.
