Chellis Glendinning, PhD, lives in Bolivia. She is a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of trauma and a political activist whose participation has spanned the social movements of our times—from civil rights and anti-Vietnam to anti-globalization and indigenous rights.
Glendinning has written five books, each concerning a social issue as reflected through the interplay between psychological and collective. She has also written hundreds of essays, radio commentaries, and a folk opera.
Glendinning has written for Guernica, Orion, Tikkun, CounterPunch, Mother Jones, Santa Fe New Mexican, and in Bolivia Los Tiempos, Nueva Crónica, and Fondo Negro. Her opera De Un Lado Al Otro, about immigration, was performed at the Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe in 2007, and her radio production includes the documentary Bolivia: Donde la Política Es Indígena (2007), plus El Rinconcito en el Cielo (2009), which won first place/feature documentary from the New Mexico Broadcasters Association.
