Martin Hakubai Mosko

Martin Mosko is the president and principal landscape architect of Marpa Design Studio, a landscape architecture company he founded in 1974. His award-winning gardens have been built throughout the United States and featured in numerous national and international publications.  Along with his wife, the photographer Alxe Noden, he travels the country, lecturing and leading workshops in garden design, photography, and meditation.

His award-winning gardens have been built throughout the United States and featured in numerous national and international publications.  Along with his wife, the photographer Alxe Noden, he travels the country, lecturing and leading workshops in garden design, photography, and meditation.

 

Mosko graduated from Yale University in 1969, having studied painting and Sanskrit. He then went on to study Zen with Shunryu Suzuki Roshi and later Kobun. He also studied Vajrayana with Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche for sixteen years.

 

In addition to his responsibilities at Marpa, he is the abbot of Hakubai Temple in Boulder, Colorado.
